PUT LABOR LAST at the 2019 ELECTION

This election, a vote for Labor is a vote for more late-term abortion across Australia.
On Saturday 18 May when you vote at the federal election, please PUT LABOR LAST.

Bill Shorten's Labor has an extreme abortion agenda, which would mean more late-term babies are aborted across Australia.

More women would be harmed and more babies would die if Bill Shorten was our Prime Minister.

WITH BILL SHORTEN AS PM, LATE-TERM ABORTION, RIGHT UP TO BIRTH, FOR ANY REASON, WOULD BE LEGAL AROUND AUSTRALIA.

IF LABOR WINS, YOUR TAX DOLLARS WILL BE PAYING FOR ALL ABORTIONS,
EVEN LATE-TERM ABORTIONS OF HEALTHY BABIES OF HEALTHY MOTHERS.

IF LABOR WINS, IT WILL BE A PUBLIC HEALTH DISASTER. ALL OUR BUSY OVERCROWDED PUBLIC HOSPITALS WOULD BE FORCED TO PROVIDE ABORTIONS.

Labor has promised that if it wins the federal election, it will fix the "patchwork" of abortion laws across the states and territories by forcing the states to remove all restraints on abortion, as well as compelling public hospitals to provide abortions for free (references below). Also threatening to withhold up to billions of dollars in health funding for states which do not comply (references below under "For Real?").

This means:

1. That Labor intends for all states and territories to introduce laws like Victoria, ACT and Queensland's abortion laws - where abortion is legal up to birth, for any reason. It's worth noting that these extreme laws, which are some of the most brutal in the western world, are the work of Labor state and territory governments. A Bill Shorten Labor government would legalise abortion to birth right around Australia. When Victoria legalised abortion up to birth for any reason in 2008, it led to an on average 39% increase in late-term abortions per year, including a full term abortion of healthy baby of a healthy mother for "psycho-social" reasons in 2011.

2. Bill Shorten's Labor intends to force public hospitals to provide abortions for free. This means more of your tax dollars will be used to kill babies and harm women. At present, only about 10% to 15% of abortions in Australia are performed at public hospitals. Expanding abortion services in public hospitals and making them free would lead to even more hospital overcrowding and delays. It would be a public hospital disaster.

3. Federal Labor has openly admitted that it will pressure state and territory governments to implement extreme late-term abortion late-term laws, just like state Labor governments have already done in Victoria, Queensland and the ACT.

ABORTION IN AUSTRALIA

What are the current abortion laws around Australia?

AUSTRALIA ALREADY HAS ONE OF THE WORST ABORTION RATES
AMONGST DEVELOPED NATIONS

Our abortion rate is over 70% higher than the USA's, and over 200% higher than Germany's. This would only get worse under a Bill Shorten Labor government.

WHAT ABOUT ADOPTION?

It's shameful that in the financial year 2017-2018 Australia abortion to adoption rate was 2,500:1

Meaning 2,500 babies were aborted for every 1 adopted (locally).
This would only get worse under a Bill Shorten Labor government.

ABORTION HARMS WOMEN

Stopping extreme abortion laws by stopping Bill Shorten's Labor from taking government, is as much about saving women, as it is saving babies from abortion.

The psychological and physical risks of abortion to women are tragic and well documented from studies around the world. A woman who has had an abortion is 6 times more likely to commit suicide, is just one of the cruel truths of abortion.

What Labor is proposing would include no protection for women, such as independent counselling which is standard practice in many nations' abortion laws.
